A very simple but charismatic method of home decoration, which is also often forgotten in pursuit of elaborate ideas is Stencil Painting. Interior design by way of stencils is not only easier on the pocket than other alternatives like wallpapers or any other master wall design ideas, but also more fashionable. Thus, stencils are both a frugal and visually attractive paint tool for home design.
Planning to use stencils for your home decor ideas but confused how to go about it? Unplan is to your rescue! Just follow our systematic stepwise approach:
STEP 1 – WALL SMOOTHENING:
Stencil painting for interior decoration is not efficient when certain prerequisites are not met, such as the presence of smooth walls to do it on. Bricked or cemented wall are not suitable for stencil artwork. Neither are the walls which are full of holes and cracks on their surface. You need to make sure that there is at least one coat of an even interior wall paint because it is only then that stencils will give us the desired effect.
STEP 2 – POSITION OF THE STENCIL:
This step is all about the correct positioning of the stencil on the wall. The stencil is required to be appropriately placed and fixed on the wall using auxiliary paint tools like fixing tape to get the desired wall pattern. This is done to ensure that the stencil is stable while painting in the stencil gaps and held in place without movement
STEP 3 – START PAINTING!:
Dip your paintbrush in the required quantity of paint such that only about half the brush is inside the paint drum. Remove any excess from the brush and begin with your actual painting process to be done through the stencil in such a way that the paintbrush is positioned at an angle of 90 degrees from the wall. Cover the wall as much as desired using the same process
STEP 4- FREE THE STENCIL FROM THE TAPE:
Review your stencil home design once done and make any changes in the design as required, till you are satisfied with the job. Once finished, free the stencil from the tape by removing it from the wall and peel it off very carefully to avoid creating a mess. Let it dry and move on with the process on your other walls.
